For those of you who have been following this process via the links on our site, we thought we would provide you with a brief update.
So far in the process, interested parties have had the chance to register their interest and submit summaries of their concerns/points, both orally and in writing. Luton Rising (LR) has commented on these, provided responses, and submitted additional/modified information on the points raised.
Those responses can be found here:-
Relevant reference numbers in the document index are REP1 020-027, REP2 030/033-039.
On the 26th September, the Issue-Specific Hearings commenced.
At these meetings, those who have registered to speak were asked questions by the inspectors to clarify any particular points they have raised. This process is explained in a video link here:-
If you wish to comment on what you hear in these meetings, you will need to register and get a reference number, then access the relevant site here:-
In the weeks after these hearings, more specific questioning will commence as the Inspectors drill down on points of disagreements, or where they feel more clarification is required.
We have also been informed that the Secretaries of State, who have decided upon the London Luton Airport Operations Ltd planning application to go to 19 million passengers per annum, and more crucially rewrite the noise contours at the airport to cover the breaches which have occurred in their last unchecked expansion, has a decision date. They have stated that a decision will be made public by the 13th October.
How this will affect this DCO Application, is unclear at this time.
As our time to update you is limited by our involvement in the DCO process, we would encourage you to continue to follow that process via the links.
