As we all know now, the Government has – unbelievably – given the green light to significant expansion at Luton Airport.
This will mean an almost doubling of the number of flights and the loss of significant parts of Wigmore Valley Park, including the County Wildlife Site. You will also know that the Inspectors agreed with us that Airport Expansion should NOT go ahead.
Astonishingly, the Government has gone against the opinions of the Inspectors and has said that Expansion can go ahead.
However, we are most definitely not giving up!
We are working with many other partners, including Friends of the Earth and the campaign group LADACAN (the Luton And District Association for the Control of Aircraft Noise) to fight this Decision.
LADACAN have taken legal advice and solicitors Leigh Day have found 14 areas where they feel there is a strong case for challenging the Government Decision. This process is called Judicial Review, and obviously we want to go ahead with this.
However, going to Judicial Review will be hugely expensive. For this reason, a Crowd Justice Fundraiser has been set up, and we are asking you to contribute to this.
The Target on the Crowdfunder is £8,000, but this is just the first stage of funding that will be required.
We are asking you, therefore, to please:
Read the background to this Crowd Justice Fundraiser on the link below, and then – if you are able – please could you give a financial contribution to this most crucial of campaigns.
One more thing: please could you circulate these details as widely as you possibly can.
This matters so much – for the sake of our children and grandchildren, and the health of us all in Luton and across the region.
Thank you so much for your support!
