Thousands of worried residents in South Luton have received disturbing letters from London Luton Airport Ltd/ Luton Council asking them to fill out questionnaires regarding who has legal interest in their homes.
This is known as land referencing and is a requirement of a Development Consent Order that the council will be submitting to Government.
We have discovered that LLAL will also be contacting home owner’s mortgage companies. This is because LLAL has identified their homes as being possibly blighted by airport expansion. We will have to wait and see if anyone trying to buy a property in the affected areas has difficulty in getting a mortgage or whether home valuations will fall for those receiving letters.
We have also heard that some residents have sort legal advice regarding the letter and feel abandoned by the council who seem to be putting profits before residents interests.
